CDC Studies Arizona's COVID-19 Infection Rates

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention this week released a COVID-19 study centered on Arizona’s infection rates.

The study analyzed the novel coronavirus in Arizona between January and August. Research showed that mask requirements, stay-at-home orders, and business closures had a massive effect on statewide COVID-19 cases. According to the CDC, Arizona’s caseload increased by 151% after the stay-at-home order was lifted in June. Then, as cases spiked, state and county mandates began requiring masks, limiting capacity in restaurants, and closing bars and gyms. According to the CDC study, those mandates made a difference — between mid July and early August, cases declined by 75%,
