AP

Arizona Health Services Director Cara Christ announced today she will leave her position as the state’s top health official to become Chief Medical Officer for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona. She is an infectious disease epidemiologist. Christ is the state’s longest serving health director, assuming the role in 2015. She intends to leave the position at the end of August. In a press release today, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey said Christ “dedicated countless hours to protecting millions of Arizonans from the COVID-19 pandemic…implementing effective statewide testing and…mass vaccination sites.”
