Coconino County health officials Friday reported a continued high level of community transmission of COVID-19.

In its weekly virus report, the county confirmed 334 new known cases between Sept. 5-11. It was a slight dip from the previous week but nearly double the number of cases from the same week last year.

Page had the largest increase of cases from the previous week at 43%, and Williams continues to have the lowest percentage of fully vaccinated people in the county.

Nearly all confirmed local cases in the last two months have been the highly contagious delta variant that’s driving a nationwide surge.

Statewide, there were more than 2,800 new known cases of COVID reported Friday along with 19 additional deaths. All 15 Arizona counties remain at high transmission levels.
