Coconino County health officials continue to report a high level of COVID-19 community transmission.
In their weekly virus update released today, there were more than 400 cases confirmed in the county between Oct. 10 and 16. The number is more than 30% higher than the same week last year. Tribal communities had the largest increase in known cases at 126%. Williams continues to have the lowest percentage of fully vaccinated residents in the county. The highly contagious delta variant accounts for nearly all new infections.
Meanwhile, Arizona health officials Friday reported more than 3,000 new known COVID-19 cases and 51 more deaths today. Every county but Yuma County in Arizona, and 80% of all U.S. counties, remain at high transmission.
Nearly 69% of all eligible Arizonans have received at least one dose of COVID vaccine while about 51% have been fully vaccinated. According to Johns Hopkins University data, the state’s seven-day rolling average of daily deaths rose during the past two weeks to more than 45 per day Wednesday.
