State health officials report an additional 30 deaths from the coronavirus pandemic, bringing Arizona's current fatality total to 624 as of Thursday. The numbers come as Governor Doug Ducey's stay-at-home order expires today.
The Arizona Department of Health Services says there are nearly 500 newly confirmed cases, bringing the state's total number of known positive cases to nearly 13,000.
The Navajo Nation reports 141 new cases of COVID-19 and a total of 127 deaths as of Thursday. Preliminary reports from several healthcare facilities indicate approximately 515 people have recovered from the virus, with more reports pending.
This week, the Navajo Epidemiology Center worked with healthcare providers to conduct a quality assurance assessment on the number of COVID-19 cases on the Nation. Because of cross-jurisdictional challenges and longer than normal verification processing, an additional 99 previously unreported positive cases were identified and added to the overall total. That brings the current known total of positive cases for the Navajo Nation to over 3,600. Apache County, Arizona now has the highest concentration of positive cases.
