Evacuations Lifted As Crews Gain Control Of Spur Fire; Dozens Of Structures Burned

Yavapai County Sheriff's Office

Evacuation orders were lifted this weekend for the community of Bagdad after a wildfire burned dozens of homes and other structures.

The Spur Fire broke out last Thursday, forcing the evacuation of hundreds of homes. Firefighters have been working the blaze from the air and on the ground. It’s now 90% contained, according to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management. There have been no reports of injuries in the mining town of about 2,000. Officials have yet to release an exact number of structures burned, but initial reports say at least 25. An investigation into the cause is underway. Community groups in Prescott and Prescott Valley have organized GoFundMe campaigns for those who lost homes.
