Flagstaff Mayor Coral Evans has updated the Emergency Proclamation issued March 16th to include a requirement to wear face coverings in public places where social distancing isn't possible. Flagstaff is among many Arizona cities to mandate the practice in an attempt to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
The proclamation will take effect June 20th at 8 p.m. and will continue until further notice. For the purposes of the proclamation, "public place" means any place the public is allowed, including but not limited to restaurants, bars, theaters, libraries, museums, gyms and fitness centers, grocery and convenience stores, nursing homes, and shelters.
The proclamation states that each person five years of age and older must wear a face covering when in a public place in the city of Flagstaff except when they're able to adequately social distance, can't wear a face mask due to a medical or mental health condition, developmental disability, religious belief, or when unable to remove the face covering without assistance.
