Former Flagstaff Mayor Candidate Indicted For Forged Signatures

Arizona Daily Sun

A former candidate for mayor in Flagstaff has been indicted by a grand jury on 12 counts of fraud and related charges.

It’s alleged that Victor Varela knowingly made and submitted forged petition signatures for his candidacy for mayor before he withdrew from the race earlier this month. Varela’s name still appears on the ballot for the August 4th primary election, but votes for Varela will not be counted.
