Navajo Nation School Districts Plan Reopening

Chinle Unified School District

Schools on the Navajo Nation are making plans to reopen next month amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

A multitude of strategies will be implemented at different schools in 3 separate states, according to the Navajo Times. The Chinle Unified School District intends to take classes entirely online this fall. Some New Mexico schools are being mandated by the state to take a hybrid approach, while other districts will survey staff, students and families for their input and ideas. Some districts are purchasing laptops for students and setting up Wi-Fi hotspots. Teachers will be expected to learn new teaching software platforms for online curriculum, as well as social and emotional support.
