Navajo Police Continue Search For Missing Nursing Student, Launch New Search For Elder With Dementia

The Navajo Police Department and U.S. Department of Justice continue to seek information on a Dine’ nursing student last seen two years ago in Pinon, Arizona. Jamie Lynette Yazzie was 31 years old at the time of her disappearance, June 30th of 2019. She is described as Native American, five feet five inches tall with black hair and brown eyes, approximately 230 pounds. The Navajo Police Department says Yazzie’s last known contact was with a coworker at the Pinon Health Center. Her vehicle was found less than a mile away from her workplace.

Navajo Nation police are also searching for 68-year-old Edward Shirley, Jr. last seen June 30th, 2021, in Yatahey, New Mexico, north of Gallup. Authorities say Shirley has dementia and could be accompanied by a brown, mid-size dog named Lady. Shirley is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, approximately 205 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and blue slippers. Anyone with information on his whereabouts or well being is urged to contact the Navajo Police Window Rock District, or call 9-1-1.
