Northern Arizona Law Enforcement Stage DUI Task Force During New Year Celebrations

barcelonahacks.com

Northern Arizona law enforcement agencies say they will have increased enforcement patrols during New Year’s Eve celebrations Tuesday.  The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office said in a written news released that authorities will conduct a multi-agency DUI Task Force tonight and New Year’s Day.

Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, Flagstaff Police Department, Winslow Police Department, Arizona Department of Public Safety and Northern Arizona University Police will be participating.

The Sheriff’s Office says it will be posting several DUI trailers throughout the area where officers can take possible violators to gather breath and blood samples if driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is suspected.

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging people not to drive under the influence and says its best to use a designated driver or take a free bus ride or pay for a taxi, Uber or LYFT ride.

Northern Arizona authorities say if you are arrested and convicted of DUI, you can face a fine of around $5000.  DUI results in mandatory jail time if convicted, with a minimum of one night in jail, and incarceration increases with severity of the crime.
