University Of Arizona Reopening In Doubt As COVID-19 Surge Continues

University of Arizona

Arizona’s surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations has cast doubt on whether the University of Arizona will reopen its Tucson campus August 24th as planned.

U of A President Robert Robbins said today he would weigh the decision with “great deliberation”. He said if he had to make the call today, he would not proceed with reopening. Arizona has become a national hot spot for the coronavirus since Governor Doug Ducey lifted his stay-at-home order. The state reported a daily increase of more than 3,000 newly confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 for the fourth time in a week. Deaths, hospitalizations and ventilated patients are also on the rise.
