Verde Valley firefighter/paramedic dies from COVID-19 complications

Verde Valley Fire District

A Verde Valley firefighter/paramedic has died from complications related to COVID-19. A statement from the Verde Valley Fire District says Tyrone Bell died Monday after falling ill more than a week ago. According to a Meal Train post created by his friends and family, Bell suffered seizures from COVID-19 and had to be intubated, sedated and flown to Barrow Neurologic Center in Phoenix for care. He was with the district for four years. Bell began his EMS career with the Verde Valley Ambulance Company and was a reserve firefighter for the Clarkdale and Verde Valley Fire Districts before being hired full time in 2017. He leaves behind a wife and young son.
