Wood Springs 2 Fire Burning On Navajo Nation Now 83% Contained

InciWeb

Firefighters continue to make progress on the Wood Springs 2 Fire burning on the Navajo Nation near Ganado.

The lightning-caused fire has burned nearly 13 thousand acres and is 83% contained. Fire crews are focusing on restoration in areas disturbed by containment and suppression efforts to prevent erosion along fire lines and preserve the aesthetics of the landscape. An executive closure order remains in place for the area, prohibiting access to the general public. Navajo Route 7 between Sawmill and Three Turkey Ruin Junction remains closed. N26 also remains closed where it intersects with N27, out to Route 7.
