KNAU Arizona Public Radio is integrating new audio software into both news and classical services. We thank you for your patience and support through the transition.

Share Your Voice

As a listener and supporter of our station, YOU are the Public in Arizona Public Radio.  That's why we want to hear from you!

Public Radio isn’t possible without financial support from its listeners, but on average only 1 in 10 listeners will donate.  So, we are asking our members to share their "KNAU story" and let their voice - your voice - inspire others to give. 

Participation is easy!  Simply use your computer or smartphone to record your story, then follow the instructions below to share it with KNAU. Your recording can be up to 1 minute 30 seconds long.

Not sure what to tell us?  Here are some ideas...

  • "I've been a supporter of KNAU (or Public Radio in general) since..."
  • "I first started listening because..."
  • "I listen to KNAU while I'm..."
  • "KNAU (or public radio in general) makes me feel..."
  • "What I value most is..."
  • "I think it's important to support Public Radio because..."
  • Or anything else you would like to share!

Then finally, to tie everyone's stories together, we ask that you end your recording by saying:

  • "I'm <first/last name> from <your town> and I am the Public in Public Radio."
    (If you would prefer to just share your first name that's fine.)

We will be sharing these member stories via our website and social media, and some will also be selected for use on-air this fall and throughout the coming year.  KNAU reserves the right to edit stories for on-air use so they fit within available time slots during our programming.

Ready to share your voice and inspire others to support KNAU?  Here's how:

Option 1:  Record your story with Soundcloud.com

  1. Set up a free Soundcloud account  (Soundcloud is a secure audio service; registration is quick and easy)
  2. After registering,  click the orange cloud icon to bring you back to the homepage.
  3. From the homepage, join the group "KNAU Listeners" which you can find using the search box at the top.
  4. Select the "upload" button from the menu bar at the top, then click "start new recording". A separate page will open with an orange "REC" button which you can click to record your audio file using a computer or iPad (with microphone) or your mobile device. 
  5. Once you have finished your recording, name and save the audio file. A "add to group" button will appear beneath the saved recording.  Click it and then select "KNAU Listeners" and your recording will be shared with our group.
  6. If you would like to include a personal photo with your audio link, please do!

Option 2:  Record your story with other audio software

  1. Make your recording using a preexisting audio software program or app on your computer, iPad or mobile device. (Please be sure to save the recording as an MP3 file.)
  2. Email the audio file to Dominique Johnson at KNAU via dominique.johnson@nau.edu. If you would like to include a personal photo in the email with your audio link, please do!
