Classic without sounding retro, and effortlessly blending neo-pyschedelia with folk, rock and indie-pop, The Essex Green's gorgeous arrangements and beautiful vocal harmonies set it apart from the countless acts that take their cues from '60s pop.
Originally formed in 1997, when four members of the Vermont band Guppyboy relocated to Brooklyn, The Essex Green wasted no time in making a name for itself locally. Its debut album, 1999's Everything Is Green, caught the attention of labels and critics alike, and after releasing a self-titled EP on the Elephant6 label, it crafted even tighter song structures on its sophomore effort, The Long Goodbye. For the new Cannibal Sea, The Essex Green brings to the table catchier melodies, stronger songs and a fuller, more developed sound.
