Fink: Dance Music Gets Acoustic

Finian Greenhall is Fink.
Finian Greenhall is Fink.

Fink is a pseudonym for singer-songwriter (and techno DJ) Finian Greenhall, who has taken a roundabout journey to his career as an acoustic musician. Greenhall began recording techno music in the late '90s, culminating in the release of his first full-length, 2000's Fresh Produce. It was then that his interest in electronica started to wane, as he began to prefer composing to spinning others' work. He compiled a handful of acoustic tracks for the influential Ninja Tune label, which released his second album, Biscuits for Breakfast, in 2006.

The downtempo, homebrewed tunes of Fink's sophomore disc have drawn rave reviews from fans of both acoustic folk-rock and dance music. Its songs combine the electronic atmosphere of former tour-mate Zero 7 with the soft, shimmering guitar work of Jose Gonzalez. Fink's voice is bluesy and passionate, as he unapologetically draws on real-life experiences for his songwriting. A follow-up to Biscuits for Breakfast arrives later this year.
