The Wooden Birds: A Mellow 'Magnolia'

After building an underground reputation for the mellow, textured sounds of American Analog Set, Texas-based singer-songwriter Andrew Kenny has returned to his native state to work with his latest group, The Wooden Birds.

With its debut CD, Magnolia, Kenny's new band shares similarities to American Analog Set, but is lighter on the synth and electric beats. If possible, The Wooden Birds' music is even mellower than that of its predecessor: With easy morning melodies, background whispers and lo-fi poetics, Magnolia is simple, intelligent and moving.
