Becoming a Fire Adapted Community

Becoming a Fire Adapted Community

Living in an area prone to wildfire requires more preparation than creating a defensible space around your home. While fuel reduction plays its role, a more holistic approach to living in the Prescott basin is required to create a community that prepares for, responds to, and recovers from this natural disaster threat. Conrad Jackson will cover this holistic approach, known as the Fire Adapted Community model. Materials will cover traditional training in defensible space and evacuation preparation, but will also address issues like Wildland Building Code, Prescribed Fire use, Suppression Response models, and the very challenging issue of Homeowners Insurance.
