'Burt' Film Premiere
'Burt' Film Premiere
The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Burt” showing Nov. 14-20 at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres.
Filmmakers Joe Burke and Oliver Cooper (who also stars in the film) will host a zoom Q&A discussion on opening day, Friday, Nov. 14.
When Burt — a 69-year-old street musician living with Parkinson's — is visited by a young man claiming to be his son, a quiet weekend spirals into a tense, darkly funny exploration of identity, trust, and second chances.
Lonely but full of heart, Burt seizes the chance to build the kind of connection he's always longed for, inviting Sammy to stay the weekend in the modest home he shares with his cantankerous landlord, Steve. As the two men navigate the awkward terrain of newfound family, secrets surface, tensions simmer, and unlikely bonds form in this poignant, music-laced tale of second chances. fatherhood, and the redemptive power of human connection.
Inspired by the real life of singer/songwriter Burt Berger, the film blurs the line between reality and fiction with disarming authenticity. An instant laugh-out-loud-and-cry indie darling, “Burt” delivers heart, humor, and authenticity in equal measure.
“Burt” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres Nov. 14-20. Showtimes will be Friday and Tuesday, Nov. 14 and 18 at 4:00 p.m.; Saturday and Thursday, Nov. 15 and 20 at 6:30 p.m.; Monday, Nov. 17 at 3:30 p.m.; and Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 7:00 p.m.
