Celebration of Life for Tony Norris
Celebration of Life for Tony Norris
Please join us as we gather together to celebrate and honor Tony’s life.
Tony was a beloved Flagstaff entertainer, cowboy poet, storyteller, singer, and guitarist whose life was devoted to sharing music and stories with others. A co-founder of Flagstaff Friends of Traditional Music and founder of Northern Arizona Storytelling, he was a passionate supporter of the Flagstaff Folk Festival and a familiar presence at gatherings such as Pickin’ in the Pines, cowboy poetry festivals, and community events across Arizona and beyond. Through performances at schools, libraries, festivals, the Grand Canyon Railway, and the Weatherford Hotel, he inspired generations—mentoring hundreds of musicians and bringing folk, bluegrass, Appalachian, and cowboy songs to audiences from cradle to grave. An award-winning musician and writer whose work appeared in publications such as Flag Live and A New Plateau, he was known for his wit, charm, empathy, and encouragement of others’ gifts. Above all, he was most proud of his family and believed deeply in the power of stories, always reminding others to share their own.
With so many dear musician friends, the main program performers are being coordinated and contacted directly. A side-court jam space will be available during the event for friends and musicians to gather, play, and share music.
There will be limited capacity at the Orpheum.
