Elemental Change: Reframing Our Climate Future

ELEMENTAL CHANGE EXHIBIT FOCUSES ON WATER ISSUES

On June 2, Open Doors: Art in Action continues the exhibit, Elemental Change: Reframing Our Climate Future, featuring artwork by nationally recognized Viola Award winners Shawn Skabelund and Brian David Griffith, as well as Larry Stevens, Kathi Baron, Lauren Raine and Susan Lamb, with student contributions. The upcoming event includes three notable speakers to offer an overview of the state of our local water resources in conjunction with the First Friday ArtWalk on June 2: William Vernieu, Hydrologist, USGS (retired) spent years studying Lake Powell and the Glen Canyon Dam, and will share an update on the conditions there. He will be joined by a researcher who has focused on the Colorado River and area springs, Larry Stevens, now Director of the Springs Stewardship Institute, as well as Jon Mason of the USGS Water Science Center, whose specialty has been the area aquifers.

The event is part of the current exhibition, Elemental Change: Reframing Our Climate Future, now on display in the gallery at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany and online at www.opendoorsartinaction.com.

The gallery opens at 6:00 with an hour of browsing the collection, and enjoying a buffet of food and drink. Presentations begin at 7:00. Epiphany is located at 423 N. Beaver and parking is available at the rear of the church.
