'Hamnet' Film Premiere
The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Sedona premiere of “Hamnet” showing Feb. 13-19 at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres.
“Hamnet” is nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Motion Picture of the Year. It is also up for the Oscar for Best Director (Chloé Zhao), Best Actress (Jessie Buckley), Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, Best Casting, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Score.
From Academy Award-winning writer/director Chloé Zhao, “Hamnet” tells the powerful story of love and loss that inspired the creation of Shakespeare’s timeless masterpiece, Hamlet.
”Hamnet” — starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal — is a historical drama exploring the emotional, familial, and artistic consequences of the death of Shakespeare's 11-year-old son, Hamnet, in 1580s England. The film focuses on his mother, Agnes, as she navigates grief while her husband, William, copes by writing Hamlet.
The film also stars Emily Watson and Joe Alwyn.
“Hamnet” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres Feb. 13-19. Showtimes will be Friday, Feb. 13 at 3:30 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 15 at 3:30 and 7:00 p.m.; Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 16, 17 and 18 at 3:30 and 6:30 p.m.; and Thursday, Feb. 19 at 4:00 p.m.
