"Just Sing" Film Premiere

"Just Sing" Film Premiere

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Just Sing” showing May 1-7 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre.

“Just Sing” follows a pivotal season with the SoCal VoCals, one of the country’s top collegiate a cappella groups, as they pursue a record-setting sixth ICCA title. With graduation looming and expectations high, the ensemble faces the pressure of competition alongside the uncertainty of what comes next.

Directors Angelique Molina and Abraham Troen take an intimate approach, capturing rehearsals, rivalries, and the personal histories that shape each performer’s voice. From campus practice rooms to national finals, the film balances dynamic performances with unguarded, behind-the-scenes moments, offering a close look at the discipline, camaraderie, and transition that define the chapter of the group's lives.

Well known alumni of the group include songwriter Ross Golan ’01, who penned No. 1 Billboard hits for Maroon 5, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban; two-time Grammy-winning Pentatonix vocalist Scott Hoying and music arranger Ben Bram ’10; Broadway performers James Snyder ’03 (If/Then), Donald Webber Jr. ’08 (Motown, the Musical, Severance, Hamilton), Catherine Ricafort ’09 (Allegiance) and Bryce Ryness ’02 (Matilda, the Musical); and actress-singer-songwriter Kelley Jakle ’11, who played Jessica in Pitch Perfect. In 2016 the group performed at the White House for President Obama and Michelle.
