Persona Poems and You!

Persona Poems and You!

Ayelet will teach a writing workshop about persona poems - specifically, how they can be a way of creating a new personal relationship to a text or story. Ayelet's new book of poems is an exploration of Genesis 22 through persona poems from the perspective of the different characters involved. She will share with participants a packet of persona poems (by multiple poets including herself) and then participants will try their hand at writing persona poems in the class. This will give participants new tools for approaching texts that are familiar in a new way.

About the Presenter:

Ayelet Amittay is a poet and Psychiatric nurse practitioner in Oregon. Her poems have appeared in Gulf Coast, Michigan Quarterly Review, Pleiades, Tupelo Quarterly, and others. She received fellowships from the Yiddish Book Center and the Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing.
