Star Party at Red Rock State Park

Star Party at Red Rock State Park

Come out and enjoy the night skies at Red Rock State Park with JD Maddy and the Astronomers of Verde Valley. The Star Party begins with an introductory presentation on the celestial happenings in the mid-September skies, followed by star viewing through some high-powered telescopes.

Saturn, the Ringed Planet, will rise in the southeast after sunset with Neptune not far behind it. Join the party and enjoy a star-filled night sky in a natural area where stars are more visible away from the perpetual glow of the urban landscape. The astronomers will point out the North Star, the various constellations visible in the early night sky during the fall season, the Milky Way, and other less-known objects such as star clusters and nebula.

Light refreshments will be provided, courtesy of Keep Sedona Beautiful. Attendance is limited and reservations are required. The program will wrap up by 9:15 pm.

A $15.00 registration fee is required per person. Registration will be open from August 17 through September 15. Reservations can be made at the park Visitor Center or by calling (928) 282-6907. If registering over the phone, payment can be made with either Visa or MasterCard.
