Star Talks: Dark Skies of Yavapai County: An Updated Outdoor Lighting Standard

In July 2025, the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors adopted an updated Outdoor Lighting Standard, which are the building codes and rules regulating any outdoor lights in unincorporated Yavapai County. This can be considered the new "Dark Sky" rules that Yavapai County residents, business and visitors must follow when using outdoor lights in the county. Susan Herbert, Planner at Yavapai County Development Services, will give details about these building code updates and will answer questions about what it means for the future of outdoor lights across the county.Star Talks are held in partnership with Prescott Astronomy Club and presented with funding from Friends of the Prescott Public Library.
