Star Talks: Vera C. Rubin Observatory: Opening a New Era of Discovery

Rubin Observatory has recently begun the Legacy Survey of Space and Time, which will accumulate an unprecedented amount of data over ten years. This talk will highlight the groundbreaking technology and data infrastructure that make such a survey possible, provide insight into some science questions that Rubin will help to answer, and share opportunities for you to engage with this new chapter of cosmic exploration. Ardis Herrold is the Senior Education Specialist for Vera C. Rubin Observatory. She oversees the Rubin Observatory Education program, which includes creation of classroom investigations using authentic data, teacher support, and professional development workshops. Star Talks are held in partnership with Prescott Astronomy Club and presented with funding from Friends of the Prescott Public Library.
