Community Calendar

Explore the power and creativity in words and art and the ways you can use them to shape your world during this two week-long day camp for young artists and authors.

In the mornings we will focus on poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction along with your instructors from the NAU English Department.

In the afternoons we will focus on art projects such as bookmaking, silk-screening, and letterpress with instructors from NAU’s School of Art and Design.

We will combine the writing and art activities to create collaborative projects such as a collective zine, a poetry broadside, tote bags, and more culminating in a celebration and exhibit of our work and talents!

Campers will engage in daily art and writing activities designed to spark creativity as we get to know one another.

Young artists and authors should be going into grades 6 - 12 and no art or writing experience necessary to be a camper.

July 6-9 | 9 AM - 3 PM
July 10 | 9 AM - noon.
July 13 - 16 9 AM - 3 PM
July 17 | 9 AM - noon.

Forest Magic Camp gathers campers in Flagstaff aged 7-12 for an introductory experience within the wilderness. Campers build confidence and ease towards outdoor activities such as camping and hiking, while also forming strong and unique friendships.

At camp, they get to test their skills with slack lines, hammocks, hiking, and bouldering all while enjoying the fun of place-based outdoor crafts and the company of many caring adult and teen Trail Wizards and trail Wizards in Training dedicated to exploring the magic of the forest!

Momentum Aerial is now enrolling for summer semester with teen & adult classes (ages 13+) in Trapeze, Silks and Lyra. You don't have to run away to join the circus. Momentum Aerial is right here in Flagstaff!

Some classes perform, others are skills based. All classes are fun and rewarding! Won’t be here all summer? No worries! Week-long summer camps for youth (ages 6-12) & teens (13-16) are here!

Aerial classes are a creative way to get involved in the community. This art form is a joyful way to stay active when it’s hot outside. Best of all, our aerial classes are just as affordable as any yoga or dance class! Our high quality classes are taught by professional aerial instructors with years of training and experience.

A new way to bond with your little one this summer: Flutterbys — our ‘mini & me’ family class!

Flutterbys is just 8 weeks long, but more fun than you could imagine! Play games, stretch, learn aerial, and more with your family.

Keep your mini entertained and make long lasting memories with us on Thursdays at 9-9:45am. Can’t make all 8 weeks? Don’t worry! We have a new 5 class punch card available. Choose which weeks you can attend, and keep your wallet happy.

Early morning is when the gardens truly come alive — and there's no better way to experience it than on a guided bird walk with Dr. Celia Holm. Wander the Arboretum as the birds begin their day, with an expert guide to help you spot and identify them along the way. Bring water, your camera, and comfy shoes. The walk starts promptly at 7:30 AM and is limited to 15 participants, so reserve your spot early!

Curious about the thinning done through the Four Forest Restoration Initiative? Join library staff as we explore a section of forest that was thinned one year ago. This hike will take place on logging roads and will be ~2 miles long.

What you'll need: transportation to and from the trailhead, water, snacks, sun protection, and shoes for hiking. Please no dogs on this adventure.

How to get there: head out Highway 180 past Snowbowl Road, in ~1 mile turn right on Round Tree Road. Drive up Round Tree 1 mile and park. We'll meet you there!

At Forest Magic Camp and Forest Fridays campers join a group of young explorers for an introductory wilderness experience that builds comfort and confidence with outdoor, camping, and hiking skills while developing strong, unique, and inclusive friendships.

From our ponderosa forests to your own backyard, Margaret will share the stories behind the remarkable birds that call this region home. She's the author of Backyard Birding in Northern Arizona, available in our gift shop — perfect for getting it signed after the talk. Saturday, 10–11 AM. Free with admission.
