Father And Son Found Dead In Flagstaff Following Train Collision

Flagstaff Police have identified a man who was killed on New Year’s Day after being hit by a train.

Travis Haudley of Lukachukai was pronounced dead on the scene in east Flagstaff. Two people were reportedly standing on the railroad crossing between eastbound and westbound trains when Haudley was struck. The other person wasn’t immediately found and police are working with Burlington Santa Fe Railroad to review on-train video recordings as part of their investigation.

Meanwhile, Flagstaff Police are investigating the death of Haudley’s father, Emerson Haudley, from Chinle. Officers were called Thursday night to an area in east Flagstaff near the site of the train collision after a man was found unresponsive in the tunnel that runs beneath Butler Avenue and Ponderosa Parkway. There were no signs of trauma and very cold overnight temperatures appeared to play a role in Haudley’s death. Anyone with information is asked to call the Flagstaff Police Department.
