Police in a Phoenix suburb say a Waymo self-driving vehicle was involved in a collision with another vehicle and the driver of the Waymo vehicle was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A spokesperson for police in Tempe says that it was not immediately known whether the Waymo vehicle was in self-driving mode when the collision happened late Thursday night.

A passenger in the Waymo vehicle did not appear to have been injured and no one in the other vehicle was hurt.

Waymo is a Google spinoff and is among companies testing self-driving vehicles in metro Phoenix.
