npr.org

Authorities say a former state juvenile corrections officer facing sexual exploitation of a minor charges has died in a Phoenix jail two days after being arrested.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security officials say 26-year-old Kevin Stanley Driscoll was taken into custody Feb. 19 at his Glendale home after investigators reported finding explicit images of children on two personal email accounts and two electronic storage accounts.

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office later filed 10 felony charges against Driscoll, who was fired by the Juvenile Corrections Department.

The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office told Phoenix TV station ABC 15 that Driscoll was found unresponsive in his jail cell last Friday and later declared dead.

No cause of death has been released yet.
