Grand Canyon National Park has suspended the collection of entrance fees as many of the services shut down in what park officials say is an effort to keep with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines on coronavirus.

All restaurants at the park have suspended operations, though a release from the National Park Service notes that some dining facilities may offer takeaway options.

The release also notes that places where it plans to keep open places where it is possible to adhere to CDC social distancing guidelines such as hiking trails, viewpoints and campgrounds.

Many of the concessionaires at Grand Canyon National Park say they have temporarily ceased operations.

The National Park Service announced Xanterra has closed its lodges, restaurants and tours.

Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel announced it too has suspended operations.

Both companies anticipate re-opening in mid-to-late May.

Park officials say they will update information on closures of park and concessionaire services and other park news at its website.
