Gunman Identified In Shooting Death Of Phoenix Police Commander

Phoenix Police Department

Authorities have identified the suspect who shot three Phoenix police officers on Sunday night…killing Commander Greg Carnicle and wounding two other officers.

The suspect is 22-year-old Jacob Emry Mcilveen who was involved in a dispute with his roommates at their north Phoenix home.

Carnicle and the two other officers were walking up the stairs inside the home when they were shot.

Mcilveen remained in the home after the injured officers were removed. He eventually walked out of the home armed and was killed by police.

The two wounded officers are expected to survive.

Carnicle had been with the Phoenix police department for 31 years and was set to retire in the fall.
