During this time of separation, there is one thing that can unite nearly all humans on the planet…music. Since most musicians are currently unemployed due of the Coronavirus outbreak, KNAU has launched a new series called, Play Us a Tune, and it’s just that simple. Today, Flagstaff-based musician Quinn Scully serenades us with a Bill Withers tune. The legendary soul singer-songwriter died last week at the age of 81.
Quinn Scully: Hey, everybody! Thank you for tuning in. This is Quinn Scully. I’m a local musician. I perform as a solo artist and in the band Sci-Fi Country and the Senators. For me, this pandemic has meant the cancellation of shows and tours and a loss of income. But, it’s also inspired me to find more creative ways of sharing my music.
Last week, we lost the music legend Bill Withers. I’m honored to be able to still share some of his music for all of you today. I hope you enjoy it.
Lovely Day, by Bill Withers
When I wake up in the morning, love
And the sunlight hurts my eyes
And something without warning, love
Bears heavy on my mind
Then I look at you
And the world's alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it's gonna be
A lovely day
A lovely day
When the day that lies ahead of me
Seems impossible to face
When someone else instead of me
Always seems to know the way
Then I look at you
And the world's alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it's gonna be
A lovely day
A lovely day
When the day that lies ahead of me
Seems impossible to face
When someone else instead of me
Always seems to know the way
Then I look at you
And the world's alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it's gonna be
A lovely day
A lovely day
