Local Health Officials Urge Physical Distancing During Memorial Day Weekend

Coconino County

The Coconino County Department of Health and Human Services is urging the public to take precautions during Memorial Day holiday gatherings to avoid coronavirus.

They say people should keep practicing physical distancing, avoiding close contact with others and large groups. Officials also say people should practice other basic prevention measures like hand washing, covering sneezes and coughs, cleaning surfaces, and avoiding gatherings if sick.

In addition, health officials say food safety guidelines should also be followed during gatherings like refrigerating perishable foods and cooking meat to safe temperatures.

Meanwhile, Coconino County will continue its COVID-19 testing next Tuesday at Ft. Tuthill in Flagstaff from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those with symptoms or a medical order can receive a test through Friday. The county will also take part in the continued statewide testing blitz Sat, May 30 at the Health and Human Services Building in Flagstaff. Essential workers, those with symptoms and those who think they’ve been exposed to the disease and can be tested.
