Navajo Police Officer Dies Of COVID-19

Navajo Nation

Navajo Nation police officer Michael Lee died today from COVID-19. The Navajo police department says this is their first law enforcement death from the disease.

Navajo Nation president Jonathan Nez offered condolances to the family, saying in a press release, "Officer Lee fought on the front lines to combat coronavirus and we are grateful for his dedication to our community."

Lee served as a police officer for 29 years and was working in the Chinle district. He is survived by his wife and children. The tribal government ordered flags to fly at half-staff in his memory.
