NAU Reports 3.8% Enrollment Drop For Fall Semester

NAU

Northern Arizona University officials report an enrollment drop of 3.8% for the fall semester.

Earlier in the COVID-19 pandemic, the university feared up to a 20% decrease as some students considered deferring college. According to NAU, the enrollment drop will cause a 12% reduction in the university’s overall budget with fewer international and out-of-state students as well as revenue losses from housing and dining and the added costs of campus safety measures.

In total, 29,569 students enrolled at NAU for the fall 2020 semester. NAU's enrollment in the fall of 2019 was 30,376.

Officials say there were slight increases this semester in graduate students, American Indian and Alaska Native students, and in the College of Education.
