Northern Arizona University President Rita Cheng today announced she will not pursue a contract extension after her current contract expires in 2022.
In a statement, Cheng said she has notified the Arizona Board of Regents of her intentions and has full confidence in NAU’s leadership going forward. Cheng came to NAU in 2014 after leaving a post as chancellor at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. She was also previously provost and vice chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
