Arizona COVID-19 Deaths Near 16,000 As Hospitalizations Decline

AP, file

Arizona health officials reported no new COVID-19-related deaths today as the state’s overall fatalities approach 16,000.

Inpatient hospitalizations in the state have been on the decline in recent weeks and Sunday’s numbers were the fewest since November. The amount of intensive care beds in use has also gone down.

The state’s latest figures Monday morning include 1,039 additional confirmed cases. In all, there have been nearly 818,000 total known COVID infections in Arizona since the pandemic began.

About 8% of Arizonans have now been fully vaccinated and more than 1.2 million have received at least one dose.
