Navajo Nation officials have loosened some COVID-19 restrictions as the tribe continues to vaccinate residents and experience a flattening of cases.
Officials say the reservation will transition to yellow status Monday, meaning restaurants and some other businesses can open at a limited capacity. The tribe’s four casinos will also be allowed to open at half capacity but only for Navajo Nation residents, citizens and employees.
The tribe recently said it had 10 consecutive days with no reported COVID deaths. More than half of adults on the reservation have been fully vaccinated, but officials want to inoculate at least 70% before they’ll reopen the Navajo Nation to visitors.
