Wildfire Near Kingman Prompts Evacuations, Emergency Declaration

Mohave County Sheriff's Office

Mohave County Board of Supervisors Chairman Buster Johnson has issued a county emergency declaration as a wildfire has forced evacuations in the Hualapai Mountains near Kingman.

The Flag Fire ignited Sunday and has grown to about 1,400 acres. Officials say residents of about 200 homes in Pine Lake and Hualapai Mountain Park have been ordered out and evacuations could be imminent for the Atherton Acres and Pinion Pine communities.

Multiple fire crews and aircraft are trying to contain the blaze that’s producing heavy smoke. The American Red Cross has set up a shelter for evacuees Palo Christy Elementary School in Kingman.
