Type 1 Team Takes Over Command Of Fighting Wildfire Near Crown King

Inciweb

A federal type 1 incident management team has assumed command of fighting a wildfire near Crown King that’s forced the evacuations of three small communities.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office yesterday issued go orders for Minnehaha, Fort Misery and Horsethief Basin, and says residents of Crown King should also be prepared for evacuation because of the Tussock Fire. The American Red Cross has set up a center for evacuees at Mayer High School.

The fire began Saturday and has grown to 3,500 acres near the boundary of the Prescott National Forest. Firefighters aren’t reporting any containment and some roads and areas are closed. The cause is under investigation.
