More fire restrictions are going into effect this week in Arizona as dry and warm conditions persist throughout the region.

The state Department of Forestry and Fire Management Wednesday will implement heightened Stage 2 restrictions in southern Arizona on state lands. It totally bans campfires and limits chainsaw use, among other measures.

Coconino County lands north of the Grand Canyon will also enter stage one restrictions Wednesday. The Kaibab, Coconino, Prescott, Apache-Sitgreaves and Tonto national forests, among others, have already limited campfires to developed sites as part of Stage 1 restrictions.

Several national monuments, historic sites and wildlife refuges have also imposed restrictions.  See the Arizona Interagency Wildfire Prevention website for the complete list of fire restricitons in the state.
