Flags To Fly At Half-Staff On Navajo Nation In Honor Of WWII Veteran

NNOPVP

Flags on the Navajo Nation will fly at half-staff Wednesday in honor of World War II Army veteran and former POW Thomas Lynch, Jr.

He died last week at the age of 98 and had lived in Window Rock.

According to Navajo President Jonathan Nez, Lynch was captured near the end of the war by German forces during the Battle of the Bulge and held for nearly four months. He was later honorably discharged and received several medals.

Following his service, Lynch worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs for 35 years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday in Fort Defiance.
