Tropical Moisture Triggers Flood Watches Throughout Arizona

Flood watches have been issued for all of Arizona through Wednesday as increasing tropical moisture is expected to produce showers that could create heavy rainfall.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for much of northern and central Arizona along with the Phoenix and Tucson metro areas through Wednesday night.

Some storms will be capable of producing up to 2 inches in less than an hour leading to flash flooding especially near burn scars from wildfires.

Flooding could also impact normally dry washes, small streams, low-water crossings and poor drainage areas.
