Arizona health officials today reported 4,012 new know cases of COVID-19 for the first time in a week along with 33 additional deaths.

In addition, nearly 2,700 people statewide were occupying hospital beds for the virus on Wednesday.

The last time patients were in that range in Arizona was early February when the state was coming down from a winter surge.

With many hospitalizations for non-COVID reasons, only 5% of inpatient beds were available.

Nearly 54% of the state’s total population has been fully vaccinated.

More than 22,000 Arizonans have died from COVID since the beginning of the pandemic.
