Arizona pulls big numbers in U.S. Census population estimates

The U.S. Census Bureau’s annual population estimate ranks Arizona among the fastest -growing states in the nation.

Arizona ranked third in numeric growth between July 2020 and July 2021, trailing only Texas and California for net growth.

2020 Census data also show Phoenix was the fastest-growing large city in the country last year, with Goodyear and Buckeye ranking in the top ten fastest-growing U.S. cities over the last decade.

California continues to be the country’s most populous state with almost 40 million residents.
