KNAU 88.7 is operating on impaired low power. APS has shut off power to our tower atop Mormon Mountain to service another radio station's meter. APS estimates full power will be restored around midnight Sunday evening/Monday morning.

KNAG 90.3 FM Grand Canyon is back on-air. Our engineers have repaired transmitter equipment on the ground but suspect the tower-mounted antenna may have sustained damage & are working to locate the problem; further repairs to come... Thanks so very much to our dedicated listeners in the region for their patience & support!

KNAU Arizona Public Radio is integrating new audio software into both news and classical services. We thank you for your patience and support through the transition.

AZ Legislature approves laws that limit voting by mail

azlibrary.gov

The Republican-controlled Arizona Legislature has approved a measure that will ask voters to drastically boost identification requirements needed for in-person and mail voting.

Arizona already has very strong voter ID laws, but Republicans contend they leave room for fraud or illegal votes. Democrats call the measure and many of the scores of election bills making their way through the Legislature this year efforts to suppress the vote.

The House passed the measure already approved by the Senate along party lines on Monday. Several other election bills also passed the House on Monday, including one that prevents voters who register using a federal form and have only sworn they are entitled to vote from voting by mail or for president.
