KNAU wins two Public Media Journalists Association awards

KNAU is deeply honored to have won two second-place Public Media Journalists Association awards this year. PMJA’s annual competition recognizes the best in local public radio news.

Our story by KNAU Science and Technology Reporter Melissa Sevigny won in the Education Feature category.

She toured Lowell Observatory’s long-awaited, $53 million Marley Foundation Astronomy Discovery Center on its opening day last year. She roamed the center and witnessed people of all ages connect to the universe in unexpected ways.

In PMJA’s Special Coverage 2024 Election category, KNAU’s newsroom was recognized for a feature story by Richard Davis.

He spent an extended amount of time with four generations of a Navajo family who led a five-day horseback ride across the Navajo Nation to register voters ahead of the presidential election.
